Participant Solicitation – NCMS now forming the Forum for Extended
Enterprise Risk Management and Continuity
The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences has announced it will be
launching a new multi-industry forum in October 2002 in the area of risk
management and business continuity for manufacturing companies and supply
chains. NCMS is now seeking charter participants, to be involved in
setting initial focus and direction for the initiative.
This forum will review benchmarks and research, conduct collaborative
R&D and carry out collaborative demonstration, pilot and implementation
projects among its members. Focus areas will include:
- Risk management practices, processes and strategies for the
post-9/11 supply chain
- Integrated approaches to enterprise and supply chain risk
management, recovery and business continuity among corporate
functional disciplines, including Information Security, Physical
Security, Hazard Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Supply
Chain/Supplier Management
- Methods and tools for identifying, analyzing and assessing the
dynamic spectrum of risks and vulnerabilities facing the modern
manufacturing extended enterprise
- Advanced approaches to managing these enterprise risks through
insurance and capital markets
- Application of advanced information technologies and tools to
enable risk management and response strategies.
This forum is engaging participation of leading manufacturing companies
and supply chain partners representing many sectors, as well as insurance
and financial capital markets, leading university researchers, National
Laboratories, innovative technology providers, industry associations and
professional societies. Each industry member will have the opportunity to
improve the security, resilience and responsiveness of their enterprise
and supply chain, while materially contributing to strengthening their
respective industries and the overall economy.
