Our Special Relationship with InfraGard

Early in 2001, the NCMS Board of Directors approached the Director of the National Infrastructure Protection Center with an initiative to form a special group within InfraGard, one that uniquely addressed the needs of manufacturers in America. This initiative was subsequently approved as the NCMS InfraGard Manufacturing Industry Association (IMIA). The charter for IMIA can be viewed below, as well as the NCMS Implementation Protocol.

The IMIA program serves as a proactive alliance, a resource and a community for manufacturing industry members who share a common interest in improving their ability to defend the integrity of their critical infrastructure systems and trusted collaboration environments. The program seeks to build trust among participants, enabling manufacturers to leverage the expertise of partners.

The IMIA program will communicate and provide access to advancements and best practices that address critical infrastructure risks, threats, and opportunities. You and your peers can count on in-depth, concise information that will be an ideal complement to the collaborations and manufacturing processes and practices information for which NCMS is famous.

Alliance Partner Status:
A Special Benefit for InfraGard Members

<top> To implement our promise to engage InfraGard chapters, the IMIA is pleased to offer our Mfg.Trust monthly email awareness feature to all registered InfraGard members. NCMS adheres to an “opt-in” email policy, so interested InfraGard members who wish to receive these emails must explicitly contact the Customer Care Center at NCMS (customercare@ncms.org) and provide the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your company name
  • Your day phone number
  • Your email address
  • Your InfraGard Chapter name

After validation, you will be registered on an NCMS list-server and receive monthly Mfg.Trust email features and InfraGard-relevant notices. There will never be a charge for this service. Consistent with our privacy policies, you may unsubscribe (and re-subscribe!) at any time. Your email address will never be shared with a third party. This offer is part of an initiative to extend NCMS Alliance Partner status to all registered InfraGard members. NCMS reserves the right to verify InfraGard registration, and refuse service to ineligible parties at will.

Mfg.Trust Features and Web Resources

Our well-regarded monthly awareness and outreach email publication, Mfg.Trust, stresses infrastructure assurance topics that affect our personal lives, as well as our business occupations. We think that aware and educated private citizens are also aware and educated employees!

Mfg.Trust is provided FREE OF CHARGE to NCMS Alliance Partners and Members so that we can bring this important message to as many people as possible within the manufacturing community. We have chosen an editorial calendar (see Mfg.Trust Publication Index) of topics that we believe will be most effective for our partners.

IMIA is Part of NCMS Community Member Services

<top> Within NCMS, these awareness, communication, education, community building, and trust building roles are realized through NCMS Community Member Services. Much of what is intended as IMIA benefits to a manufacturing community are already provided through NCMS Community Member Services. To speed the deployment of additional InfraGard benefits to the manufacturing community, and to enhance efficiency, NCMS combines NCMS Community Member Services resources with other resources to accomplish the purposes of the IMIA. NCMS operates IMIA as a program within NCMS Community Member Services.

For more information on benefits, becoming a member, or general questions, please contact the Customer Care Center (customercare@ncms.org).

In Summary

At NCMS, we are dedicated to helping manufacturers develop robust systems that assure uninterrupted production. We assume responsibility to help the many people who are not aware of the issues surrounding the protection of their critical business infrastructure. Our contribution to the solution is to provide awareness and education. We’ll focus as much on personal issues as on business, because both are important. Of course, once we understand these issues in our personal lives, the ideas transfer easily to the workplace. We’ll always offer solutions you can use – not just scare mongering.
